Bio
If I could be known as one solitary thing in life I would like it to be that I am a writer. It is my ambition in life to become an author and have my books published, I aspire to be among the greats such as H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe. Horror literature is my area of expertise and it is in that field that I like to focus on and perfect. When I was just twelve I started writing my first novel, at the age of fifteen I had written several drafts and had altered it so many times it was virtually unrecognisable from what it once was. At seventeen, however, I decided it was time to move on. The novel had some damn good ideas and was certainly not a bad piece of literature but the fact remained that I had started this at the age of twelve. In five years I had matured so much that I knew I could write something far more powerful and emotion evoking than this. I decided to push the first novel to the side and work on another project. It went well but as I went to University that too had to be pushed away a little. Right now I am going to be working on a fresh idea after my summer exams and certainly have a few ideas that will create an exciting and enjoyable read.

As a writer I do not restrict myself to just writing novels. If I did that I would be merely a novelist by definition. I have written lyrics in the past and will soon to be writing lyrics full time for my friends band Chaos Incarcerated. They are an extreme metal band who have melodic elements and at times have guitars that don’t sound too distant from Nile. As well as this I write poetry, but this only happens when I feel very strong emotions towards a topic. You cannot fabricate poetry, it has to come naturally, and that it does, filled with energy, emotion and most importantly passion.

The writing doesn’t stop here though, I wrote a column in my local newspaper The Kidderminster Shuttle for two years. Each week I would review a video game. This ties in with my second love, that is for video games. Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by them. Reviews of mine can be found in both The Kidderminster Shuttle and on my website www.Games-Update.com a site dedicated to gaming that has been running for four years now. In terms of favourite games I would have to say both the Silent Hill and Resident Evil series are joint favourite. Resident Evil probably gets a very slight edge, but much like the fabulous George A. Romero Trilogy of the Dead, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill, to some extent have helped influence, inspire and shape the foundations of my writing.

Right now I am a student at Warwick University studying a Philosophy degree. I worked pretty hard to get there attaining straight A’s at A Level. Although I do have an interest in Philosophy it has become apparent that this really isn’t the subject for me, I am a writer not a Philosopher, and it is for that reason that next year I will be transferring to English Literature. A subject I can be passionate about, a subject I actually care about and will enjoy studying, rather than find it a boring chore. Warwick University is without a doubt a fantastic place to study. I have made so many friends since being here and would say that the Rock Society is most definitely the friendliest society I have ever been a part of. Not only is everybody friendly but there’s a fair few places to go in the evening like The Phoenix, The Dog, The Jailhouse and The Colly. A little further in Birmingham you can often find me frequenting Scruffy Murphys and Costers. It has to be said that Scruffy Murphys do a fantastic pint of Guinness, the best this side of Ireland in fact. Then occasionally I’ll go to 9 bar for Deranged, Subculture, Eddies Number 8, or even Snobs. As a fan of gigs the Birmingham Academy is a place that deserves to be visited, I have seen the likes of Deicide, Motorhead, Megadeth and Nightwish there, to name but four.

I accept that the majority of society are shallow and selfish, looking out for their own needs and interests. When Philosopher Hobbes said “it is human nature to be inherently selfish,” he wasn’t kidding. You just have to look around you to see that, need I cite anymore than the example of Mr. George Bush himself?

One thing I really can’t stand is judgement and prejudice on aesthetic grounds. I recall being physically beaten up by people because I was “a goth” apparently. I like the way I was labelled and then hit, the bruised lip served as a little reminder to me about the ignorance of society. Ignorance occurs with racists too, it pisses me off to think that some people actually believe a colour of a persons skin dictates who that person is – how narrow minded these individuals are.

On love I would like to be known as a true romantic. I always seem to get hurt but I do have a romanticised view of love where everything is perfect, fairytale like if you will, but remember kids dreams do come true you just have to believe in them ^_^. I think “All I Ask Of You” from The Phantom of the Opera is a beautiful song that encapsulates a lot of my feelings as regards love. I really love The Phantom of the Opera, it’s my favourite musical, sometimes I get so moved by my favourite song it brings me close to tears, I’ll feel the tears brimming up in my eyes because it’s so beautiful. I could write all day about love and my vision but I shall save that for conversations rather than a big scrawl on this profile ranting and dreaming of a perfect love.

Favourite Films: The Green Mile, The Hannibal Trilogy, The Shawshank Redemption, The Phantom of the Opera, 28 Days Later, George A Romero’s Trilogy of the Dead.

Favourite Authors: Stephen King, Richard Laymon, James Herbert, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft.

Piercings: Tongue, lip, nipples.

Likes: Reading, writing, gaming, music, gigs, pubs etc. People visiting my website and signing up to the forum and chatting *hint hint*:).

Dislikes: I hate materialism and people who judge people purely on aesthetics. Complimenting people's aesthetics is ok but people should look deeper than the initial exterior, they should look to the heart :D. Fucking cheats and liars! Another thing I cannot stand is hypocritical people; for example if you are to put in your dislikes a trait and then to carry it out yourself. I mean what is the point of hating for example to take my last example cheating and then to be a cheat yourself. It's so self-contradictory *sigh*

Favorite Music: Right, I haven't updated this in a while, so I'm scrapping everything I had and writing it all out again. I have quite a diverse taste in music but my main interest lies in death, black and thrash metal. I also enjoy the odd bit of electronic like the brilliant Assemblage 23, and some German metal too. Anyway here is the list of bands I enjoy. At The Gates, Slayer, Amen, The Haunted, Deicide, Nevermore, Megadeth, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Rammstein, Megaherz, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Nile, Suffocation, Sentenced, Zyklon, Vader, Assemblage 23, Carcass, Motorhead, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, (early) Cradle of Filth, A Perfect Circle, Tool, The Mars Volta, At The Drive In, Sparta, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Mayhem, Pantera, Carpathian Forest, Conquests of Steel, Chaos Incarcerated, (early) Zao, Living Sacrifice, Norma Jean, Dragonforce, Mushroomhead, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Tenacious D (for comedy purposes), Anal Cunt, Mastodon, Arch Enemy, Satyricon, Dark Tranquility, The Icarus Line, Machine Head, Opeth, NIN, Manson, Dream Theatre, Ministry, Paradise Lost, Morbid Angel.
